Membership Registration Fees | Benefits of Membership How to Join The Society MembershipThe Australasian Society for Psychophysiology (ASP) is comprised of Full Members and Student Members. Full Members are typically working in and/or have published scientific research in psychophysiology or related areas, and are typically members of one of the major recognised professional associations for psychology, medicine, neuroscience, biology, or engineering. At a minimum, to become a Full Member an applicant must have an interest in Psychophysiology and should have a degree from a tertiary institution or equivalent (resolved: AGM 13/12/92). The executive has discretion in criteria, and an applicant may for example be sponsored by two Full Members of the Society. Student Members are required to be currently enrolled in an undergraduate or predoctoral academic program in psychophysiology or a related area. Student status may be required to be certified annually by the student's research supervisor or Head of Department or delegate. Membership Registration FeesCurrent registration fees are set out in the following table. Registration covers the period 1st January through 31st December in a calendar year (resolved: AGM 3/12/93). Note that membership renewal fees are lower than the joining fees (resolved: AGM 4/12/2000).
Benefits of MembershipA list of the specific benfits of membership follows, which complements the many good reasons to join the Society. These benefits will undoubtedly increase as membership grows.
Undoubtedly the main benefit of membership is the opportunity to contribute to and to influence the further development of research in (and ultimately the practice of) Psychophysiology. As the professional body which best represents psychophysiologists in the region, the ASP has been communicating with Federal and State funding agencies and science ministries in the development of science policy and funding for Psychophysiolgy. The Society will continue to be an advocate for Psychophysiology at the highest levels, and its strategic plan includes the fostering of alliances to related professional organisations to that end. The Society also has a key role in the promotion of the value of Psychophysiolgy in the eyes of the general public through the popular and scientific press and other public forums. How to Join the ASPOne application form caters for either new or renewal applications for either Full or Student Membership. The application form is available from any of the ASP contacts, and is also available on this server for downloading, displaying and printing: as a MS Word document, and as a Adobe Portable Document Format file. For your convenience, the menu below also provides links to free software with which you can view and print these files. Alternatively, you may browse (and print) the Web preview of the form. Remittance is required with the application form. Please note that the ASP is unable to process credit cards or direct bank transfers at this time, and of course it is not advisable to post cash via snail mail. Most members make themselves financial at the Annual Conference of the Society, and most postal applications remit with a cheque.
To become a member of the ASP for 2006 (if you are not already financial), please fill in the form, enclosing remittance (a cheque is preferred, and must be made payable to "the Australasian Society for Psychophysiology Inc."), and send to: Tracey Shea Secretary, Australasian Society for Psychophysiology Inc.
